Cellulose and loofah cleaning sponges are popular eco-friendly alternatives to synthetic sponges, combining natural materials with effective cleaning power.  Our cellulose sponges, made from wood pulp, are soft, absorbent, and ideal for wiping surfaces and soaking up spills, while loofah sponges, derived from the dried fibrous interior of the loofah gourd, offer gentle scrubbing power that's perfect for tougher grime without scratching. Both materials are biodegradable and compostable, making them excellent choices for reducing household plastic waste. To extend their lifespan, they should be rinsed thoroughly after use, kept dry between uses, and sanitized regularly. Once worn out, they can be composted—ideally cut into smaller pieces to accelerate decomposition.

The sponges are sold dry, so they are flat, but once you activate the sponge with water, it will swell to its normal form. Our scrubbies are hand sewn. Toxic glues are not used in their production.
